"I'm a sidhe. And Shade is something very different. I wouldn't worry about what he is, cause you'll probably never see another one like him." She frowns. "And cut him some slack, he's had a rough day."
Nick looks you over with an appraising eye. Hard to tell if he's seriously checking or not. "Well obviously you're a she. Last time I checked I'm still a he. I'd better make sure though." Nick leans back and makes a show of looking at his crotch from behind the chair back. "Yup. Still all there." Looks over to the balcony. "So what, did he change today too? I'm still having some trouble accepting this."
"Meant no offense. This stuff just means very little to me right now..." Nick gets quiet and looks at the floor for a minute. Silence hangs in the air until he looks you in the eyes. His eyes and voice carry an almost iron weight to them. "Is there any to be normal again?"
She shakes her head, looking a little apologetic. "Nope, sorry. Well, wait. There is, but you don't want to do it. You have to let your faerie nature die. You wouldn't remember anything that happened while you were fae." She shakes her head. "Just trust me when I say it's worth hanging onto." She stares out the window, thoughts about a million miles away.
Nick chuckles. "Easy for you to say. Look at you. You're beautiful." Nick's eyes narrow. "Now look at me. Take a good long look. Wings, tail, scales. God help me if I start sneezing. I might burn the place down. What's so beautiful about the dream I got handed?" Nick gets up and walks to the kitchen bar. "What's worse is I'm the one that dreamed it. Only I don't get to wake up this time."
She shrugs. "There are benefits. You can turn into a dragon, I'd bet. Probably be able to fly, too. There are flaws for everyone." She frowns, looks a little sad, but shakes it off. Though now that you think about it, even when she grins, she always looks a little sad.
"Well... I've got an 8 o'clock with Johnny Law." Nick walks over to the balcony. "Hey, Shade. I wasn't trying to be funny. How do you sleep with these? Gotta get some shut eye if I'm goin' downtown in the morning."
Shade turns and looks at you. "Just don't sleep on your back. You'll get used to it." He says in what tries and quite miserably fails to be a comforting tone. He looks like someone just killed his best friend or something.
